Gingerbread Poinsettia was made using this recipe, and the petals were cut out with the teardrop-shaped cookie cutter. And glued together with royal icing. The holly leaves and doves were cut out from a favorite sugar cookie recipe (found in the latter link above), and thinly glazed.
The doves are hanging from a dogwood branch. Puddin' the cat made this shot almost impossible. Good thing that persistent little kitty has nine lives.

Dickens story of A Christman Carrol is one of my favorite stories, even outside the genre of Christmas stories. Was talking about it someplace else. If you have not seen the musical version of Scrooge, you should put it on your list. Here is a song from the ghost of christmas present;

Your lovely bird cookies make me think of spring. I actually heard the sound of chirping this morning and had to open my snow blitzed back door to make sure I wasn't imagining things. Sure enough, there were birds singing!
