Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! And may 2014 bring you much happiness.

Jack Frost slogged his way through the Midwest recently, leaving hundreds of thousands of people (and yours truly) without power, for nearly a week.

Things are back to normal, for the time being. But if it hadn’t been for my guys, who kept me entertained, my splash with watercolors, and hours of fun with bubble wrap, I would’ve come unhinged.

Unfortunately, without electricity, I didn't get a chance to make my usual  gingerbread sculpture this year. But, let us  hypothesize it's on its way. Lest you start believing I never finish anyth . . .

  3. Hugs to you, darling people - and best wishes for a wonderful New Year!

I took a break from taking down the Christmas tree, and all theChristmas doodads throughout the house. Bittersweet moment.

  4. You always make me smile, Sol :). I love your humor.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were one of the families I had ready about who were without power! The worse possible timing. We had an awful December and January isn't looking for better with a high predicted of only -11 on Monday.

Happy new year and looking forward to seeing that gingerbread sculp...:)

    1. Susan, thankfully, the latest storm missed us. But I'm keeping my bubble wrap nearby for the next round.
      Btw, what's a 'sculp?' :)

  10. How did I miss this post? I submitted my email a few weeks ago to follow you because I NEED your inspirational posts and humor. Somehow I didn't get any notifs. Anyway, Happy New Year to you! That cardinal on the book page is lovely, is that what your watercolor splash produced? You are a woman of many talents.

    1. Annie, I'm sorry; I've also had problems with email notifications in the past. But, darn it, I'm just happy to see you!
Btw, Mr. Cardinal was fun to do. Even though I’m more comfortable with a pencil than a brush, I still might try watercolors again.

  11. Marysol, what a gorgeous site you have. I am not sure if it is the recipes or your creativity I like best. A wonderful read.

  21. Hola Mija,

Loved seeing the Spanish greeting! I have been on this journey for a while. It hasn't been an easy one and I've learned a lot about myself when it comes to parting with stuff. I think most people are hoarders by nature. I was one, and I know if I were to let loose again I'd be right back to square one (acquiring stuff because it is so darn pretty or shiny). This whole process has brought me something I really needed in my life. The first and foremost being space in our tiny home. The second, freedom from being a slave-caretaker to our stuff. I didn't realize I was eating up so much precious time cleaning and puttering.

I hope all is well with you and that you are feeling 100% now.

You always make me smile ;)
    Nancy

I hope I don't sound completely crazy, but this process is really changing my life. I can still be a stubborn one when it comes to letting go, but I keep telling myself, "baby steps."

    1. Nancy, you'll be proud of me, when I tell you your latest entry inspired me to hold my breath and get rid of a few more pieces I thought I couldn't live without.
And you know what, I didn't turn blue, I didn't pass out, I'm still standing [even if a wee bit wobbly] Baby Steps, indeed, my friend.

Thank ye for making this miracle happen!
